Windows coppies files, then hangs at Expanding Windows Files (0%). Tried 15 times, Even left it overnite.

I am thinking what ever is causing windows not to start, is also causing Windows not to want to install. Thiscomputer is an HP and the warranty has expired.

Trying to install Windows 7 beta from an iso and it reaches 'Expanding files' and hangs there forever at 0%. Have tried creating the vm as both Vista and Server 2008, both hang at the same point.

My Friend is poor with 4 kids and I am just trying to help her out. It's a 300-1330 Touchsmart and has had this same operating system on it for 14 months with no problems, Except IE 10. We had to remove thatbecause it crashed everytime she closed Internet Explorer. Message would pop up Internet explorer has stopped working and has to be closed. We went back to IE 9 and it worked perfect.

Any Help would be Greatly Appreciated. The girl that owns this computer is very poor with 4 kids and no husband or boy friend, I am just trying to helpher out. Her mother used to be my best friend in the world, but was killed a year ago in a car accident. I was sure hoping to help her out.

This is the first computer, I can say I don't know what's wrong with it. I have fixed Hundreds of computers.

But this1 has me stumped. New Motherboard on ebay $48.00 plus shipping. New Processor on ebay $63.00, with free shipping. If it was mine, I would. But this belongs to someone else, and she has no extra money. Thanks Much,Muchofreeo. Run Memtest86+:This runs from a boot disk or CD and should eliminate or confirm if one or more of your memorysticks are bad, if the SPD values in the BIOS are correct ANDin your case, if your Motherboard / Processor is still minimally functional.Memtest86+ Guide/How To's (use the.ISO to create a bootable CD)Let memtest run for as long as you can: 2,4,6,8 or more hours (at least 3 full passes), if no errors by then your ram is OK.

Processor should at least be functional but CPU core voltage may be set too low to run under a moderate to heavy load, check the BIOSfor the current CPU voltage.J W Stuart:Never be afraid to ask. This forum has some of the best people in the world available to help. Hello I Downloaded Memtest86+ V4.20 Pre Compiled Bootable ISO (zip. I unzipped it, Burned it to disc using Power ISO.

I tried F1, and boot menu.Computer will not run it. Pauses for 2 min and starts windows repair utility. So I tried the Memtest86+ V4.20 Auto-Installer for USB Key.

Tried F1 and boot menu. It sees USB device but can't run it. Pauses 5 min and starts Windows Repair Utility.

This is an HP 300-1330. I googled it last night and foundthere is an overheating issue. Seams HP didn't provide enough vent holes for adaquit cooling.

Some are saying Processor over heats and fails. Read all my symptoms and please tell me if this sounds like a processor.

If so I found 1 for 99 cent last night onebay. I am thinking it is worth a try. Even with shipping it's under $5.00, and includes Heat sink and Fan. But I am just not sure it is the processor. I have never in over 200 computers I've worked on, had a bad processor. So I don't really know what to lookfor. Any Help will be Greatly Appreciated.Have A Great Day,Muchofreeo.

First if at all possible verify the memtest DVD / USB will load and run on another PC, if it does then you know the media is good.Second, did you check the BIOS, either the DVD or USB must be set s the 1st boot device for memtest to load and run. If it's not do so and try again. If the above has been tried and memtest still does not run then chech the CPU coller / fan for dust bunnies which can cause overheating. As for Ebay, what about the seller's rating, 99 cent is way too cheap?J W Stuart: Never be afraid to ask. This forum has some of the best people in the world available to help. DVD works on my PC.

Windows

Set DVD as first boot device in bios. Memtest still will not run. This PC has a Squirrel cage fan in the power supply and copper duct work providing air to 4 differant heat sinks. I blew throung the duct that goes to the processorwith 45psi compressed air, it's clear. I am thinking processor. The dude on ebay has sold over 2300 items all starting at 99 cents, and has a 100 percent rating. I checked his history for the past 6 months, everything starts at 99 cents.

Including Blu-rayUSB DVD External drives. He has sold about 20 of those in auctions for about $8.00 each. Guarenteed to work on arrival. Mother boards are too expensive for me to gamble on. Have A Great Day!Thanks Much,Muchofreeo.

Windows 10 Upgrade Stuck at Various Percent Completing Mostly 99%, 32%.0%Superuser forum - 'Installed Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) on a fresh PC and after installing service pack 1 started the upgrade to Windows 10. Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant app downloads and verifies but gets stuck at 99% in the upgrading window phase. Even after hours, it remains stuck there.' Microsoft community - 'Today I've obtained and updated my windows 8.1 PC to Windows 10.

The installation is finished well and windows 10 is started up good, then I decided to reset it for a clear installation deleting all file on HDD but now the reset status is stuck at 99% for a past hour is this normal?' Reddit comment - 'I've found multiple people with this issue but with no clear answer. The only thing I found was to leave it running. However, mine has been running for around 24hrs and hasn't budged past 99%. I have tried resetting it and the same thing happens. Any advice would be very helpful!'

These requests for replies of fixing Windows 10 upgrade stuck at 99%, and Windows 10 reset stuck at 99% still do not end. Here below are two major cases that most users would have to face while upgrading to Windows 10:.We've heard many people encountering Windows 10 upgrade stuck at various percentage issues on Windows 10 forums, such as, 75%, 43%, 32%.2%, 1% and even at 0%. What's more, upgrade assistant stuck at downloading, installing, checking for updates. If you happen to be one of the victims, how do you get around Windows 10 upgrade slow, stuck, freeze, not proceeding and freezing issue? Do Nothing but WaitAs a reminder, Microsoft recommends users wait until the upgrade completes before taking further action. A delay of one day would be highly unusual, but it suggests that users wait that long for the upgrade complete or to confirm there is an issue. Just be patient and wait for 100% complete if there's no error has reported.

Clean Up Extremely Large Files and Junk Files and Do Upgrade LaterCannot wait longer? You may need to do some cleaning now. Windows 10 reset would remove all files and folders and wipe the drive clean, and this process takes incredibly long if the drive's 'heavy' enough. Do not let Microsoft accomplish the cleaning, which is time-consuming. Just put the ongoing upgrading to a halt, and use EaseUS to wipe hard drive clean.

Windows 10 is supportedDownload the software and learn out. Disconnect Any PeripheralsMake sure you've disconnected any non-essential hardware and unplug all hard drives other than the C: drive. Yank that external hard drive, disconnect peripherals that aren't necessary, including extra monitors, smart card readers, weird keyboards, whatever.

If possible, consider turning off Wi-Fi and plugging into a router with a LAN cable (that worked for me). Then try running the upgrade again. Use 'Try Again' Option in Upgrade Assistant AppWait for the Upgrade Assistant to report 'Something went wrong,' and use the 'Try Again' option. This should repeat the usual download, verify and install cycle.

Upgrade to Windows 10 Using Media Creation ToolUse to create a USB or DVD drive. You can upgrade to Windows 10 using the tool or perform a clean installation using a USB or DVD with no hassle. Make sure you followed the guidelines strictly and never miss the important steps. Take Your PC to a Microsoft Store NearbyIf none of the solutions work for you, bring your PC to Microsoft Store and let the engineer do the upgrade. This should be the most convenient and effective way to solve your Windows 10 upgrade slow, seemingly stuck at 99% process issue.
