Windows 10 Rearranging Desktop Icons

Right-click on an empty area on your Windows 10 desktop, and click on Personalize. The Personalization settings app will open. Click on Themes in the left panel. Under Related Settings, click on Desktop icon settings to open its configuration box. Here, uncheck the Allow themes to change desktop icons option, Click on Apply/OK. Since upgrading to Windows 10 my laptop has developed the annoying habit of rearranging the desktop icons seemingly at random, but specifically after connecting to an external monitor. Is there any way to lock them in place?. Until only I can add to, remove or rearrange them.

I am using Windows 10 so perhaps this is misdirected. I will describe my problem because it seems to be the same with Windows 7 comments.I have a Dell laptop Inspiron 15, 7000 series. I have 2 additional monitors and I have docking stations at my primary office and my satellite office.
When I shut down to travel and then hook back up at either location, the desktop icons get re-arrangedin random order. I do not change resolution manually but what I think happens is that any updates MS sends out and I have the computer process those updates, this changes the desktop icons.
Film photos of studio reels 2016. That happens on occasion and I wonder if that is changingmy monitor size/display changes (from factory defaults). Also, the re-arrangement of icons happens when I go from one office to another; no other changes done.
