- Weapon mods improve the quality of weapons within the game. They are attached to one specific weapon, and are gone once the weapon is lost. An exception is when your weapons are confiscated, and you retrieve them from the armory. In this case your mods will have been taken off and you must reattach them.
Having completed a stealth pacifist run and gotten most augs i'll need anyway,im now planning on starting a lethal run to (literally) kill some time until the next game is released (forced to play on PS3 due to the broken PC version which i would have gotten otherwise,hopefully the next game won't have the same issue). I've already planned what weapons to use,but i don't know if they're worth using;1. Revolver against bosses,bots (when i don't have any EMP grenades) and heavies. Any other weapon able to take them out as easily (Rocket or Grenade Launcher and Sniper Rifle for example) takes up too much space,its ammo is too rare or is aquired too late to make a difference2.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution Weapon Mods. Upgrade depends on the weapon: Pistol +3, Shotgun +2, Combat Rifle +10, Heavy Rifle +25, Machine Pistol +10. Quest reward in Clock and Dagger side quest. Pistol for when using any other weapons would be too slow or wasteful,mainly for setting off mines, destroying cameras and killing targets when you can't afford to get spottedAlso,which weapons should get which upgrades first if several weapons require the same one,and are any of those weapons able to take on several enemies at once if needed (mainly for the last level)? Typhoon is the only boss killer weapon you will ever need on every difficulty.

So get somebattery bars depending on what difficulty setting you use.Easy - use it once per bossmedium - twice.etc.But some people don't like easy boss fights so.Revolver fully modded is fine for armored foes. Unmodded is fine too but you need more shots rather than one or two. Use the iron sights.Pistol destroys everything if you fire it from the ironsights and aim for the head.
The upgrades make this a weapon a beast.If you are playing a silent run, then you can get a silenced sniper rifle in the first mission. It's on the path to the roof entrance. The crossbow is also silent without an mods. Pistols need that silencer unless if you use the environment to your advantage.Everyweapon can be used to kill quick if used by the ironsights. Some weapons are better at it than others though.SMG and Combat rifle has some significant spread while pistols and revolvers have it reduced.Shotguns are the fun weapons. The more futuristic weapons that come later can destroy the bosses if you don't have the typhoon.Technically you can kill without silencers without being spotted if you use your enviroment to your advantage. As long as the rader doesn't turn red, they don't know where you are.
So on yellow alert, they will quickly give up their search if they don't find you quick. AI is pretty easy to fool in this game. Having finished a silent run,im looking for something noisy for a change. I don't think shotguns are very good past Detroit let alone late game due to lack of Sabot Shells in Human Revolution and everything from FEMA Camp onwards having armor,but i might be wrong and i hope i am,as im not a big fan of SMG's and Assault Rifles for the reason i mentioned as that leaves just the shotgunsShould propably just get the pistol for stealth kills and something else for run and gun and be done with itEDIT: Had to remove some duplicates,accidentally posted several due to steam lagging like crazy for some reason. Pistol is relly only good with head shots.EVERY weapon is better with head shots, so I don't see the point here.To answer your question, the pistol - it's silenced, has decent range, and is very accurate. To make it even more ridiculous, it can one hit kill enemies wearing helmets with the armour piercing mod found in Adam's apartment whereas the silenced sniper rifle can't.The only time I would have had to use a sniper rifle instead was the TYM ambush.I also question the wisdom of using non-silenced weapons (it's easier to kill enemies one at a time than an entire base's worth of soldiers at once).The heavy rifle in particular seems like a spectacularly bad weapon (it's huge, its ammo is huge, and it takes forever to spin up. So you have to be out of cover for 5s before you can fire a single shot).
It's alright for bosses that don't move, I guess.

Replacable' Augmentations: Find a new aug you just have to have? Now you can replace an existing augmentation with one found in an augmentation canister. Just use a medical bot to install it, like you would with any other augmentation.New/Better Augmentations: In unmodified Deus Ex, many of the augmentations were of limited to no value, or only useful in very specific situations.
Shifter attempts to rectify this by modifying how some of these augs work (like Microfibral Muscle) or by replacing them completely with new, superior augs. These weapons are unique, and only appear in that one location, nowhere else, to balance their power.Random NPC Inventory: In a realistic setting one would never be able to say for certain what a random passerby on the street might have on them. Shifter incorporates this into Deus Ex, giving NPCs hostile, neutral and friendly alike randomly determined items. Perhaps nothing more than some extra credits, perhaps some food or cigarettes, but maybe even a contraband substance or weapon.Additional Skill System: It seems somewhat unfair that a player is not rewarded with skill points for some acts of true skill, feats like defeating a room full of MiBs, or perhaps walking within just a few feet of them without being detected. Either way, combat or stealth, players are now rewarded for their feats of skill.Deadlier NPCs: Many of the additions made to Shifter would seem to shift the balance of power almost exclusively to the player. To counteract this, NPC AI and skill has been upgraded.
Enemies shoot better, aim quicker, and dodge faster. Never underestimate a Shifter NPC. (Well, when I finish all the AI tweaks, anyway.:P).
Yeah, it does some wonderful things, like throws enough skill points at you to trivialize the entire skills system, encourages killing by rewarding each kill with even more skill points, and adds in incredibly overpowered weapons to further break the game like the silenced stealth pistol you get ridiculously early that can oneshot every single human enemy in the game. The AI improvements are a joke. You become incredibly overpowered. Choices no longer matter - why specialize when you can be a jack of all trades, master of all? You can even max swimming!What a mod!Shifter is the deus ex equivalent of STALKER complete mods. Everyone recommends it as it's 'like vanilla, but better!'
But in reality it ruins the original experience just as much as any other mod. It's a ridiculous analogy, because I can have both versions. Adding a mod to a game does not destroy the original.
So it is in no way whatsoever like painting over a painting.So according to you, if I find a game mechanic so terrible that it hurts my ability to enjoy the game, I should just not play it? Even if a simple mod can fix that mechanic and make it into a game that I'm not sorry I paying for?You are also not thinking in the long term. What about older games that can be given a new life by dedicated modders that do graphical overhauls and add whole new areas, quests, storylines, npc's, voiceovers, towns, etc.?Many people, myself included, still play Morrowind, and eleven year old game.
The biggest reason why most people still play this older game is because Bethesda made it possible to mod almost anything in the game. I still play this game because improvements can be made now that weren't possible in 2002 because of hardware restrictions, and because the game is so fucking huge that it would have been impossible for the whole creative team to catch every bug and broken gameplay mechanic.To give you an example. In Morrowind, if you are swimming in the water and you use an item or potion that has the water walking effect, you take bunch of falling damage when you rise to the surface.
Please explain to me why I should leave in this blatantly obvious bit of broken gameplay. Yeah, it'd be nice if the skill point rewards could be disabled or at least somehow be configured. However, I think the other improvements more than make up for this and if it's too easy, you could always play on 'Realistic'.E: Also, I think you're slightly exaggerating the usefulness of the stealth pistol.
That thing is as shitty as always when you don't skill into pistols, which you shouldn't do as rifles are as overpowered as in vanilla. And you get the sniper rifle on your third enemy in the first mission.
